A popular boat tour of the Hilbre Island network is relaunching after selling out bookings in 2015.

Last year, hundreds of people took to the waves for the chance to spot Atlantic Grey Seals, a wide range of bird-life, plus the occasional Harbour Porpoise.

The two-hour long Hilbre Explorer boat trip runs from Wirral Sailing Centre, at West Kirby Marine Lake and organisers are predicting a similar sell-out as bookings reopen for 2016.

Councillor Chris Meaden, cabinet member for Leisure and Culture said: “2015 was a revelation. So many people got in touch to book trips that we were left with a waiting list running over into 2016.

“The Hilbre Islands group is a natural wonder. Thousands of people walk over to visit them ever year.

“The Hilbre Explorer gives you a very different view, with the possibility of spotting seals and even porpoises.

“I would recommend that anyone who wants to go on a trip gets in touch as soon as possible. More than 200 people went out last year, and we are very confident this year’s trips will be even more popular.”

A two-hour Hilbre Explorer trip costs £35 for adults, or £25 for children. A family of 2 children and 2 adults can pay the discounted price of £100. There are concessions available for group deals and midweek trips. Children must be 8 years or older.

Trips are dependent on weather conditions. Cancelled trips will be either fully refunded or alternative dates offered. Boat tours take place between April and September.
