The Mayor of Wirral, Cllr Les Rowlands, led tributes to winners of the Wirral Awards at Wallasey Town Hall.

He said: ‘The Wirral Award ceremony is always a highlight of the civic year. Is one of the Mayor’s best opportunities to recognise those individuals who have dedicated their lives to making Wirral a better place in which to live.

‘This year’s winners come from all walks of life and have made contributions in numerous different fields. This is our way of thanking some of Wirral’s unsung heroes.”

Mr Wade is chairman of the Friends of Ashton Park, which was set up in May 1991 to represent the users of the park and support its maintenance and improvement for the community.

He also works with Westbourne Hall Community Trust, which is a self financing charity which runs and operates the hall.

Ben, who is registered blind, has volunteered at Arrowe Park Hospital’s Fracture Clinic for almost six years. He is also a keen runner and a member of the Run In Wirral group.
