The couple behind West Kirby’s new frozen yoghurt bar say they were inspired to open their new venture by trips to California.

Sean and Jayne Dalby, from Hoylake, have opened Fro on the former site of the Three Olives deli, on Grange Road.

The couple are keen travellers and said they came up with the idea for the self service “fro-yo” bar after trips to California.

Sean, who has previously worked in event catering, said: “We have travelled a lot in the states and this is how they do their fro-yo.

“We always loved the idea and wanted to bring it home but we have been waiting for the right spot and the right time.

“It’s about choice, so you decide how much fro-yo you want and how many toppings and then you pay by weight, so it’s totally up to you how much or how little you have.”

The business, which is also dog-friendly, has created three full-time and four part-time jobs and is open seven days a week, from 10am-7pm.

As well as fro-yo, they also serve a selection of cold drinks as well as tea and coffee. There is also air hockey to entertain the kids (or grown ups!) and plenty of USB sockets throughout the cafe, to charge up your phone while you enjoy your treats.
