The 16 year-old boy who suffered serious head injuries in a hit and run accident in West Kirby on Friday night remains in a “critical but stable” condition in hospital, police said today.
The young pedestrian was struck by a car near the Wro bar and restaurant in Grange Road, West Kirby, at just after 7pm on Friday evening. The car drove off in the direction of Hoylake.
The boy, whose name has not been released, was given emergency treatment by paramedics at the scene before being taken to the Walton Centre in Liverpool, where his condition was initially described as critical.
By Sunday his condition had been revised to “critical but stable”. In an update today a Merseyside police spokesman confirmed: “There has been no change in his condition and he remains critical but stable.”
A 21 year-old Hoylake man was arrested by detectives on Saturday morning on suspicion of drink driving, causing a serious injury by dangerous driving and failing to stop after an accident. He was later released on bail pending further police enquiries.
Meanwhile a silver Vauxhall Corsa car has been recovered by police and forensics officers from Harrington Avenue in Hoylake.
