A man is being treated in hospital after he was hit by a train in Hoylake.
The incident happened at just after 2pm this afternoon between Hoylake and Manor Road train stations, at the Melrose Avenue foot crossing.
The West Kirby train line was shut for a number of hours following the incident but re-opened shortly before 4pm.
A spokesman for British Transport Police said: “British Transport Police can confirm a male has been injured after being struck by a train at Melrose Avenue foot crossing on Sunday April 3.
“The train service involved was from West Kirby. The incident was reported to British Transport Police at 1409.
“The incident is being treated as non-suspicious. Paramedics also attended and the man was taken to hospital where he is being treated for his injuries.”
A spokesperson for National Rail Enquiries added: “Trains are now running normally between West Kirkby and Birkenhead North following a person having been hit by a train between Hoylake and Manor Road.”
