West Kirby hit and run latest: Teenager released from hospital

A 16 year-old boy who suffered serious head injuries in a hit and run accident in West Kirby on Good Friday has been released from hospital.

The young pedestrian was struck by a car near the Wro bar and restaurant in Grange Road, West Kirby, at just after 7pm on Friday March 25. The car drove off in the direction of Hoylake.

The boy, whose name has not been released, was given emergency treatment by paramedics at the scene before being taken to the Walton Centre in Liverpool.

A 21 year-old Hoylake man was arrested by detectives  on suspicion of drink driving, causing a serious injury by dangerous driving and failing to stop after an accident. He was later released on bail pending further police enquiries.

Meanwhile a silver Vauxhall Corsa car has been recovered by police and forensics officers from Harrington Avenue in Hoylake.
