Granddaughter of iconic retailer launches her own shop in West Kirby

The granddaughter of the boss of Liverpool’s famous George Henry Lee department store is preparing to launch her own shop in West Kirby.

Georgina Bellinger, whose grandfather Brendan Henry ran the iconic Church Street store, is launching Meraki, on Banks Road later this year.

The shop reflect Georgina’s passions for Nordic-inspired homewares along with health and well being product ranges.

She said: “The name Meraki is a greek word and it means to put an essence of yourself into something and I really feel that is what I have done.

“I am stocking lots of small, independent brands, which aren’t widely available in the UK. One of our more unusual products is edible mud, which is a natural way to cleanse the body and clear the mind.”

The Meraki brand has been created by fellow West Kirby entrepreneur Maeve Brooks, who runs design company Too Wordy

It features a Lotus Flower, which Georgina chose for its ability to bloom, even in muddy waters.

The shop officially opens ADD DATE and will be open Monday – Saturday from 10am – 5pm.
