Local bike hire scheme Bike & Go is to host a free ‘Pedal ‘n’ Picnic’ ride to mark its third birthday celebrations.
The company, which provides bike hire at West Kirby station, is issuing an open invite to join them on a three-hour guided bike ride along the Wirral Way on Saturday, August 13, 2016, with a stop at picturesque Cubbins Green for a picnic and cake.
The group will then ride on to Thurstaston for more refreshments, before cycling back to West Kirby.
Located on the old track of the former Birkenhead Railway route from West Kirby to Hooton, the Wirral Way offers a scenic route, with superb views over the Dee Estuary to Wales.
People of all ages and abilities are welcome on what organisers say will be a gentle ride, and adults are invited to use Bike & Go bikes free of charge, while children are asked to bring their own.
Bike & Go business manager Linda van der Haar said: “Bike & Go’s first three years have got off to a great start, and we’re hugely grateful to the community for all the support its shown us.
“That’s why we want to mark the third anniversary by holding an event that everyone – whether they’re registered with Bike & Go or not – can enjoy, combining free bike hire with a beautiful setting and a delicious picnic too.”
Since launching in 2013, Bike & Go has expanded to offer bike hire facilities from over 60 participating train stations across the North West, North East and Yorkshire, East and South East of England, and Scotland, with more locations due to be added this year.
Anyone interested in attending the event is asked to register by emailing info@bikeandgo.co.uk by Thursday, August 11. The group will meet at West Kirby train station at 11:30am.
