A local businesswoman has opened a designer furniture shop in West Kirby.

Roost Home Living, in Crescent Walk, is the brainchild of Jayne Corbishley, who has developed her passion for interior design into a new business.

The mum-of-one graduated in chemistry and has been working in the corporate sector for the past 20 years but had always harboured a secret desire to run a shop.

She said: “My Dad died three years ago and he was only in his early sixties and it really made me think about life. I know it sounds a cliche but life really is too short and I just thought I should go for it.

“For the last ten years, I have been saying that I would love to run a shop. My husband and I have renovated a few houses, and I love interior design, so this seemed the natural fit.

“Friends tell me I have a good eye and I do like things which are a bit different and quite contemporary, which I hope I have brought to the shop.”

Jayne has aimed to keep her suppliers local too using, West Kirby-based graphic designer, Paul Wood, to create her brand and local firm, Cleancut Wood to supply some of the fittings and signs for the shop.

Along with the established brands you will also find a handpicked selection of original gifts from budding designers that you won’t find anywhere on the high street.

Among its signature products is North Wales-based Baa Stool, which produces a range of luxury British sheepskin furniture.
