Meet Hoylake’s Calendar Girls

A group of women from Hoylake are baring all to raise money for Clatterbridge Cancer Centre.

Hoylake Calendar Girls are stripping off in aid of Clatterbridge Cancer Charity, after being inspired by ITV programme, The Real Full Monty.

The show struck a chord with Debra Armitage, whose mum Liz was treated at Clatterbridge for breast cancer a few years ago.

She has persuaded almost 30 women aged 18-70, including some who have had surgery and are in remission, to reveal all.

Debra said: “We did take a bit of Dutch courage, but once everyone had done the icebreaker photo and knew what people had been through, everyone was just inspired to do it.”

The calendar will use local landmarks as a backdrop and will be on sale locally later this summer.

Lynsey Williams spotted a lump in 2012 almost by accident after missing her mammogram.

She said: “It’s nice to be doing something for the local hospital because we were looked after well, so it’s good to be putting something back into it.”

Sponsors are paying for the production of the calendar, so the £10 raised from each purchase will go straight to Clatterbridge Cancer Charity.

The girls hope to sell up to one thousand copies – and the men of Hoylake had better watch out: they are on the lookout for volunteers to shoot a calendar for prostate cancer next year!
