Teenage girl charged following knife incident

A teenage girl has been charged with causing grievous bodily harm with intent after a man suffered a knife injury in West Kirby.

Police were called to Grange Road at around 11pm on Wednesday, 29 August.

A man aged 29 was taken to Arrowe Park Hospital for treatment.

A 15 year-old girl from Moreton was taken into custody and is also accused of possessing an offensive weapon.

It follows a series of complaints from residents about anti-social behaviour involving youths in the town, and a public meeting in June called by Wirral West MP Margaret Greenwood.

Police insist they are taking the issue seriously and dealing with perpetrators.

They have revealed:

Local Policing Inspector Paul Harrison said: “We are aware of, and dealing with, recent issues of anti-social behaviour and youths causing nuisance in the West Kirby area.

“Wirral Council’s anti-social behaviour team continues its community patrols in the area and Merseyrail’s revenue protection officers have been working in the area to stop people getting on and off trains without tickets.

“As a force we have put significant resources into this area at key times, with local policing teams and special constables providing a high-visibility presence in West Kirby over the last month.”

Anyone with concerns about anti-social behaviour is asked to speak to local police officers, call 101 or contact Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
