Police hunting for two men after unprovoked attack in West Kirby this morning

A man is recovering after he was slashed in the face during an unprovoked attack in West Kirby during the early hours of this morning.

The attack happened opposite the entrance to Ashton Park near to the junction of Westbourne Road and Dunraven Road just after midnight this morning (16thOctober).

A 41-year-old man was walking alone when he was grabbed around the neck by two men and then reportedly slashed multiple times to his face, causing superficial cuts.

Detective Inspector Paul Parry said: “Luckily the victim wasn’t seriously harmed and none of his personal property was stolen, but he has been left feeling uneasy and concerned for his personal safety.

“During the attack, the victim remembers hearing shouting from a nearby house, which we believe caused the offenders to make off. If that was you or you were in the area this morning and remember seeing someone acting suspiciously, please get in touch.

“This was an unprovoked attack and we want to locate the offenders before something like this happens again.”

The offenders are described as both being white, around 6ft tall and of slim build.

If you heard, or saw, anyone acting suspiciously during the early hours of this morning, please call 101, DM @MerPolCC or report anonymously to @CrimestoppersUK quoting crime ref: 18400001824.
