Egg Run bikers to pass through Hoylake and West Kirby

Thousands of bikers will thunder through Hoylake and West Kirby on Sunday, 7 April, as this year’s Wirral Egg Run tribute event takes place.

Riders will set off from the Dips in New Brighton at 11am, taking a route that passes through Wallasey, Moreton, Hoylake, West Kirby, Caldy, Heswall and Clatterbridge.

It is not known how many bikers will take part, but it is expected to be well over the 1,000 that braved bad weather last year. The official event was cancelled in 2013 due to rising costs.

Motorists are advised to plan their journeys and allow extra time if they are anywhere near the route from 11am until early afternoon.

The organisers say on their Facebook page: “We will leave the Dips at 11am and follow the Egg run route towards Clatterbridge.

“We are doing this ride-out to honour the members of the Empress mcc and everyone who made the Egg run one of the biggest, if not the biggest Egg Run in Europe.

“To honour every rider (no matter what machine they ride/rode) who has ever taken part in this fantastic happening in the past, we will keep the Wirral Egg Run name and spirit alive.”

Money is being raised for North West Air Ambulance, Merseyside and Cheshire Blood Bikes and Claire House Children’s Hospice, through collections at the start in New Brighton.
