Funding boost for girls’ football

The search is on for the next generation of young female footballers in West Kirby.

West Kirby United is to create four new girls teams for under 7’s and under 8’s after winning £6,000 from the FA’s  ‘Grow the Game’ initiative.

The money will go towards the cost of football kit and equipment, first aid kits, coaching courses, league affiliation costs and referees’ fees.

Paul Wood – Coach of West Kirby United under 10’s

Paul Wood, manager of the girls under 9’s and 11’s teams, said: “For a club that has serious ambitions about growing our girl’s football section, this grant helps make our ambitions a reality.

“The money will help us to provide the girls with a fantastic player experience.

“The support from the FA and Football Foundation should be applauded.”
