Remembrance Sunday events taking place this weekend

Hoylake and West Kirby War Memorial on Grange Hill

The annual Hoylake and District Remembrance Sunday service is taking place in West Kirby on 10 November.

The parade departs Beacon Drive at 10.30am, with veterans and serving service personnel among those heading to the war memorial at Grange Hill for 10.45am, to remember those who lost their lives in conflicts.

This part of the parade is being organised by retired Royal Marine Captain Dan Hasted, who said: “I attended the Hoylake & District service last year and was blown away by how well attended it is.

“The only thing missing were the veterans who are an important aspect of other parades so let’s encourage as many to attend as possible.”

The service will also be attended by representatives from the cadets, emergency services and local lifeboat crews.

The Parade will then leave the war memorial via Grange Old Road, for the salute outside the Concourse.

A laying of the wreath for the 149th ‘Hoylake Horse’ regiment will then take place in the library.
