West Kirby

LOCKDOWN: All the changes from Wednesday 14 October

Market Street in Hoylake

West Kirby, Hoylake and Meols will be subject to tough new restrictions from Wednesday 14 October, after our region was placed in the highest ‘alert category’ for coronavirus.

The changes cover Liverpool City Region, which is made up of the following council areas: Wirral, Halton, Knowsley, Liverpool, Sefton and St Helens.

The following premises will be closed:

Pubs and bars – except where they operate as if they were a restaurant, which means serving substantial meals, like a main lunchtime or evening meal. They may only serve alcohol as part of such a meal.

Indoor gyms
Fitness/dance studios
Sports facilities
Leisure centres
Betting shops
Adult gaming centres
Casinos

Exemptions apply for indoor activities involving young people, people with disabilities, elite sports people, professional dancers and choreographers.

West Kirby Concourse gym will be closed again

The other new restrictions are:

Wedding receptions are not permitted

People should try to avoid travelling outside our region, or entering another area rated Very High other than for work, education, accessing youth services, or to meet caring responsibilities

People should avoid staying overnight in another part of the UK if they are resident in our area, and avoid staying overnight in the Liverpool City Region if they are resident elsewhere

People must not meet with anybody outside their household or support bubble in any indoor or outdoor setting, whether at home or in a public space. The ‘Rule of Six’ applies in open public spaces like parks and beaches.

The rules will be reviewed on a monthly basis and will only be eased if infection levels start to come down.
