Meet West Kirby’s young litter picker

A young girl is on a mission to rid West Kirby of litter.

Eight-year-old Ebony Eibl is collecting waste left around Ashton Park, the Wirral Way and the beach.

She was inspired to act after being shocked by the amount of rubbish left during lockdown.

The St Bridget’s Church of England Primary School pupil told West Kirby Today: “I am doing litter picking because I want to inspire little (and big) ones to protect our planet and wildlife of plastic.

“Litter picking makes me happy because I am helping my community.I love where I live and I feel rewarded when I do something for my community.

“Everyone I have met has been so nice and thankful and they inspire me even more.”

Ebony – who has dubbed herself a ‘Fairy God Sister with a litter picker wand’ – has set up a Facebook page to promote her clean-ups and encourage others to do the same.

Ebony’s mum Sandra told us: “Ebony is a very determined little girl who won’t let anything to stand on her way and, if she could, would go litter picking every day.

“We are so proud of what she is doing for our community.”
