Police have stepped up overnight patrols in West Kirby following an increase in burglaries over the past week.
Officers say sheds and garages are being targeted, with pedal cycles being taken.
In a post on Facebook, they said: “Please ensure that you lock and secure sheds and garages with strong padlocks and if you have a bike lock, then utilise this by locking the wheels to the frame even inside your shed or garage. This will prevent the offenders being able to ride away on the bike easily should they gain entry.
“If you do own a pedal cycle, we would also encourage you to have this security marked, and if the bike is stolen then there is a higher likelihood of the bike being returned to you.”
Police will be outside West Kirby station on Wednesday 27 April from 5pm – 7pm carrying out free bike security marking and adding them to the national register.
