Teenager has bike stolen in knifepoint robbery

Police are appealing for help after a teenage boy had his bike stolen after being threatened with a knife at Ashton Park in West Kirby.

It happened at 8.15pm on Sunday 21 April while the 14 year-old was sitting on a bench with his friend.

Two males wearing face coverings approached them and went to take their bikes.

When one of the victims tried to stop the offenders, he was threatened with a knife and an unknown object placed against his chest.

The boy was not injured but was shaken by the robbery.

The bike is an orange and black Giant Talon mountain bike.

An investigation is underway with officers carrying out forensic, CCTV, house-to-house and witness enquiries.

Detective inspector Philip Ryan said: “We are carrying out enquiries into this incident, and I would appeal to anyone who was in vicinity to please contact us.

“The use of knives and any weapons is reckless and will not be tolerated, and can have devastating consequences, not only for the victim and their family but also for the offenders involved.

“I would urge people to educate themselves and speak to their children and family members about the dangers of knife crime.

“We continue to seek out those involved in knife crime, enticing young and vulnerable people to carry weapons or involved in gangs.”

Anyone with information is asked to call 101, DM Merseyside Police Contact Centre or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111 quoting reference 24000361413.
