Coastguard and RNLI carry out emergency training drill on Hilbre Island

Wirral and Crosby Coastguard have carried out an emergency training exercise on Hilbre Island.

They used actors to create the scenario on Sunday 9 March, which featured multiple ‘casualties’ and was observed by Merseyside Police.

Photographs on Facebook showed actors on stretchers and being treated.

On Facebook, the Coastguard said: “What does it take to manage a multi-casualty incident on a remote island? Today, we experienced it in action!

“Wirral and Crosby Coastguard conducted a dynamic multi-casualty training exercise on Hilbre Island, featuring actors to create a realistic emergency scenario.

“A big thanks to the Merseyside Police officers who attended as observers.”

Also on Sunday, West Kirby RNLI were called to reports of a missing child on Hilbre Island, but fortunately they were found before they arrived. However they did find a casualty with a sprained ankle on the foreshore.
