Find out if your road is set to be improved over the next year

Wirral Council has announced the list of roads and pavements it proposes improving over the next year.

It includes 26 streets in West Kirby, Hoylake, Meols and Thurstaston.

The local authority says the roads have been identified using the results from independent condition survey, as well as inspection reports by highways staff, and enquiries from councillors and residents.

The treatment that each road will depend on its condition and how much traffic uses it:

Surface dressing – road chippings are laid and treated to ‘lock’ them into the road surface to prevent water damage

Hot rolled asphalt -a mix of mineral aggregate, sand, filler and bitumen used on main routes which can last up to 20 years

Carriageway slurry – a layer of black slurry (fine aggregate, asphalt emulsion and water) which is applied to the road surface and then compacted

The roads and pavements (footways) being treated over the coming 12 months are:

West Kirby and Thurstaston

Hoylake and Meols

In total, £7 million has been earmarked for planned maintenance and pothole repairs across Wirral.
