An unofficial Wirral Egg Run Tribute motorcycle ride is to pass through Meols, Hoylake, West Kirby and Thurstaston on Sunday.
The ride, likely to involve hundreds of motorcyclists, is setting off from the New Brighton Dips at 11am, and will pass through Moreton, Meols, Hoylake, West Kirby, Thurstaston, Heswall, Thornton Hough, and Clatterbridge, ending at Claremont Farm.
The event was launched after the committee which ran the official annual pre-Easter Wirral Egg Run announced that the event had come to an end, in 2013.
Charity collectors from Claire House, The North West Air Ambulance and Blood Bikes North West (Merseyside) collected at the unofficial event in 2015 and will be collecting again this year.
Merseyside Police are warning that the event is likely to cause road congestion.
United Utilities were due to be carrying out water mains air scouring work at the Kings Gap roundabout in Hoylake this weekend, with four-way temporary traffic lights in place, but this work has been postponed to avoid adding to the road problems.
Wirral Area Commander, Chief Superintendent John Martin said: “We’re calling on riders to enjoy themselves safely and responsibly during this year’s Wirral Egg Run.
“The majority of people taking part are there to raise money for a good causes and we’d just like to remind them to adhere to speed limits and make sure their driving is responsible on these busy roads. “I’d also like to remind everyone that the roads are likely to be really busy on the day of the event and motorists may want to think about their route to help avoid any congestion.
“Anyone who has concerns about the event can call officers on the 101 number.”
