West Kirby pupils set to work doing chores to raise money for Nepal school

Avalon School’s Kids Council get ready to do their chores to raise much needed funds for Nepal

Pupils at West Kirby’s Avalon School are going on a cleaning spree all in the name of charity.

A group of pupils, who form the school’s Kids’ Council, came up with the idea and wrote a letter to parents to ask if each of their school friends could do some chores around their homes to raise money for this worthwhile cause.

All money raised will go to the ‘So the Child May Learn’ charity, which aims to provide safe, clean school buildings for children in Nepal.

Music teacher Helen Keenan, who is a supporter of the charity, said: “I am very proud of Avalon School Council for taking the initiative to help support a remote village in Nepal crying out for help.

“Our pupils have raised a worthy sum of money in their efforts. It is humbling to see how people in Nepal survive such trauma, losing everything they own in a natural disaster and to still keep going with a smile. We hope this extra donation will support the road to recovery quicker.”
