Man dies after he was struck by a train in Hoylake

A man has died several days after he was hit by a train in Hoylake.

The incident happened just after 2pm on Sunday April 3 between Hoylake and Manor Road train stations, at the Melrose Avenue foot crossing.

The West Kirby train line was shut for a number of hours following the incident.

A British Transport Police spokesman said: “A 51-year-old man who was struck by a train at a foot crossing in Hoylake at the weekend has died.

“Our officers responded to the incident at 2.09pm on Sunday, 3 April.

“Colleagues from Merseyside Police and North West Ambulance Service also attended, and the man was taken to hospital where he later died on Wednesday, 6 April.

“The incident is not being treated as suspicious.”
