Bosses of a West Kirby bank have announced they are reducing its opening hours.

NatWest, in Banks Road, has been closed on Thursdays since May 16 due to a reduction in customer demand.

The announcement comes only a few weeks after HSBC revealed it was due to close its West Kirby branch for good in July.

A spokesperson for NatWest said: “Banking has changed significantly over the last few years and the way people want to interact with us is also changing. We have to continually adapt to meet our customers’ needs and to ensure we remain viable and relevant both now and in the future.

“We review our branch network regularly to make sure the services we provide are appropriate for each local community, based on customer usage and other ways to bank in the local area.”

The new opening hours for NatWest are Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday and Saturday from 10am to 4pm.

Meanwhile, HSBC, in Grange Road, is set to shut on July 15 after bosses blamed the rise in telephone and online banking for its closure.
