A West Kirby schoolboy has become a national finalist at the ‘Big Bang’ science competition.
Birkenhead High sixth form student Connor McCormick, along with his fellow team mates Nathan Bramwell, Paul Gogerty and Otto Dawes qualified for the final at the North West heat.
The event took place at the Exhibition Centre, Liverpool, earlier this month, where the four were judged on their project ‘To Bleach Or Not To Bleach’. The students took inspiration for their project from claims made by cleaning adverts.
The boys received positive comments from the judges at the contest, who said: “Exceptional delivery and presentation, the team showed outstanding comprehension of the subject matter and wider implications. Overall, an inspiring group!”
Along with the competition, the team also got to engaged in a wide range of scientific studies and discuss a possible career in the chemical industry.
The final of the competition will be held at the NEC in Birmingham, March 2017.
