Police have launched an appeal for witnesses following reports of an armed robbery in broad daylight at a travel agents in West Kirby.
A man walked into The Co-op Travel on Banks Road just after 4.30 on Monday afternoon. Police say the man was believed to be armed but have not revealed what weapon he was thought to be carrying.
A spokesman for Merseyside Police said: “At approximately 4.35pm a male walked into The Co-op Travel on Banks Road and demanded cash from two members of staff.
“He then left the shop with a quantity of cash and made his way along Banks Road in the direction of Sayers.
“It is believed the man was armed. No-one was injured but the two members of staff were left shaken by the incident.”
The man is described as approximately 40 years of age, of slim build, approximately 5ft 3in tall, with shaven grey hair. He was wearing a dark coloured long sleeved top, dark pants and trainers, was wearing sunglasses and used a scarf to cover the lower part of his face.
CCTCV enquiries have been carried out in the local area and an investigation is ongoing.
Officers are appealing for anyone who was in the vicinity of Banks Road and may have witnessed the incident or saw a man fitting the description running away from the scene to contact Merseyside Police on 0151 777 2263 or the confidential Crimestoppers line on 0800 555 111.
