More than 120 girls from Year 7 at West Kirkby Grammar School took part in a fun run to raise funds for two charities which had given help and support to a pupil’s mother.

Twelve-year-olds Lottie Connor, Anna Ledingham and Ellie Brew, from Tutor Group 7B, organised the charity run, in which pupils ran a mile around the front field opposite the school in Graham Road, West Kirby.

Said Lottie: “My mum had a brain tumour, and we wanted to raise money for the two charities that have helped her, St John’s Hospice and Butterflies Listening Ear. We decided on a fancy dress fun run, and also had a cake sale.”

Pupils entered into the spirit of the event dressing in onesies, tutus and Hawaiian costumes for the mile run. Two teachers joined in the fun, dressing up as Teletubbies.

Said Anna: “So far we have raised £922.53, and with sponsor money still coming in, we hope to make it to £1,000 for the two charities.”
