The era defined by glam rock, industrial action and the rise of punk, is set to be immortalised in a new book by Hoylake writer Jade Wright.

She is keen to include as many memories, photos and memorabilia as possible and is calling on the people of Wirral to contact her with their stories.

The Dirty Stop Outs’ Guide to 1970s Liverpool will celebrate the era that saw the closure of The Cavern and the birth of a whole new style of music in the area.

Did you trip the light fantastic at the Chelsea Reach, or was The Golden Guinea more your thing?

Or maybe you went over the water and danced to The Real Thing as disco fever swept the country, and the clubs of Liverpool.

Did you see legendary gigs by Kate Bush at The Empire or Queen at The Cavern – and get the night bus home? If so, Jade wants to know about it.

The Dirty Stop Out’s Guide series has already proved a massive hit in Sheffield – one volume even persuaded a couple to re-marry after nearly 30 years apart!

Jade said: “I’m delighted that Merseyside is now getting the Dirty Stop Out treatment – where better when it comes to music, fashion and a love of going out?

“I want this book to truly represent 1970s Wirral; to be everybody’s scrapbook of a great time in their lives, and for that, I need your input.

“It was the era of flamboyant fashion, industrial action and dancing round handbags. There was so much going on across Merseyside – in Liverpool but also in Wirral and all the areas around and I really want to get that right, by including memories from people who were there, and have the T Shirt, so to speak.

“This is a people’s history, looking at the decade through the eyes of those who lived it – flares and all. I’d love to be able to share your stories and pictures of a great time in the area’s history.”
