It was a celebratory afternoon all round as Caldy scored an impressive 43-19 win against Loughborough in full back Derek Sailsburys 300th appearance for the Paton Field club.

Caldy came firing out of the blocks 12 points up within the first 10 minutes, both tries showing the athleticism of Nick Royle.

Loughborough found Caldy hard to break down in the first half with their only real chance coming in the midway point of the first half failing to go over the try line despite pressing the home sides defence for a good five minute spell.

Caldy let their dominance show moments later when after sustained pressure of their own former Worcester player Rob O’Donnell crossed to score his first try for the club on the half hour.

At the start of the second half Loughborough came out a totally different team breaching the Caldy defence for the first time after a sustained period of pressure.

Caldy extended their lead through a penalty on the half way line after a collapsed scrum.

A defensive mistake allowed the visitors to score a second try of the afternoon, which rejuvenated the home side into action when Josiah Dickinson pounced after a successful lineout which was expertly converted.

With just 10 minutes remaining Loughborough were in again with hopes of a try bonus point themselves.

However hopes of a students comeback were short lived as the impressive Royle raced in for his hat trick.

With moments ticking away man of the day Salisbury was substituted and got a fabulous ovation from both sets of supporters.

Right on full time Dickinson went through a gap in the defence to complete an impressive afternoon for Caldy which will give them confidence going into next weeks game against the early season pace setters Chinnor in the first ever league meeting between the two clubs.
