Lloyds Bank has announced it is to close its West Kirby branch later this year.
Customers have received letters informing them the site on The Crescent will shut on 27 June, due to declining usage.
In what is a double banking blow for the town, it will close its doors just a week after the Santander branch opposite.
Lloyds cites a drop in transactions over the last year – both in store and at the cash machine outside – as the reason for closure, as customers increasingly use the internet and mobile channels to access services.
In a statement on their website, they said: “Following a careful review, West Kirby & Hoylake branch will close on 27 June 2019.
“We have made the difficult decision to close this branch because customers are using it less often.
“In addition the majority of customers are also using alternative ways to bank.”
Over the last year, counter visits have fallen 8%, while use of the cash machine by personal customers is down 6%.
The company says 430 regular customers visit each month, 62% fewer than a typical Lloyds branch.
When it closes, people will have to travel four miles to branches in either Moreton or Heswall if they wish to continue to access counter services.
The closure of Santander and Lloyds will leave Barclays and Natwest as the only dedicated banks in West Kirby.
