Since its launch in 2016, the West Kirby Live music festival has raised over £20,000 for the Clatterbridge Cancer Centre.

Plans are now well underway for this year’s event, which takes place on Saturday June 1st, and organisers are hoping it will be the most successful so far.

There will be two stages in Coronation Gardens – a main stage and a smaller acoustic stage – but no stage outside The Concourse, as in previous years.

Organiser Tom Longman presents West Kirby Tap staff member with a certificate in recognition of the pub’s contribution to West Kirby Live in 2018

There will be gigs taking place across West Kirby at venues including Grand Ave, Tanskeys, The West Kirby Tap, West Kirby Arts Centre, The Wro, Forza, Lattetude, The White Lion, Scout, West Kirby Social Club, Green Onions and Wolf & Lamb.

The brainchild of the event is local teacher and musician, Tom Longman, who launched the festival alongside Martin Moseley and Luke Millward-Browning and his wife Pamela Millward-Browning.

Tom said: “A lot of people will remember the Oxjam festival which happened in Hoylake a few years ago, which is where the idea for West Kirby Live originally came from.

“In its first three years, it has gone from strength to strength and raised over £20,000 for Clatterbridge Cancer Charity.

“The event has brought some of the busiest days ever for many of our local bars, pubs, cafes and restaurants and we want to bring in as many local businesses as possible to support the continued growth of the event.”

IT company Flow Networks is among the local companies supporting the event but there are still many ways local businesses can get involved from sponsorship packages, to providing raffle prizes, to signing up as a venue or providing volunteers to help on the day.
