The RNLI is still seeking new recruits to spend a season on Wirral’s sandy beaches, including West Kirby.
Places are available on the beach lifeguard course, which runs from 8 – 12 April, and leads to an internationally-recognised lifeguarding qualification for successful participants. It gives potential lifeguards everything they need to spend the season helping to save lives at the coast.
At the forefront of the RNLI’s lifesaving work, the charity’s lifeguards responded to over 19,000 incidents and helped over 32,000 people in 2018.
Successful applicants not only receive world-class training in search and rescue, lifesaving and casualty care techniques, but also good rates of pay and the chance to develop valuable skills for a future career.
Ryan Jennings, Lead Lifeguard Supervisor for Wirral, says: “Working as a lifeguard is a demanding job, but one that also provides a unique and incredibly rewarding experience.
“We’re looking for people with courage, determination and the ability to put their training into action and make the right decision if someone’s life is in danger.
