Twenty roads across West Kirby and Hoylake are set to be repaired this summer as part of a £5million maintenance programme.
The roads being repaired have been identified following independent condition surveys in addition to reports from highways inspectors, councillors and members of the public.
More than 200 roads across Wirral are set to be repaired in the latest phase of improvement works including:

- China Farm Lane, West Kirby
- Eddisbury Road, West Kirby
- Grange Cross Lane, West Kirby
- Grange Road, West Kirby
- Hillside Road, West Kirby
- Madeley Drive, West Kirby
- Oldfield Lane, West Kirby
- St Bridgets Lane, West Kirby
- Tansley Close, West Kirby
- The Kirklands, West Kirby
- The Oatlands, West Kirby
- Banks Road, West Kirby
- Montgomery Hill, West Kirby
- Birkenhead Road, Hoylake
- Market Street, Hoylake
- Acacia Grove, Hoylake & Meols
- Bennets Lane, Hoylake & Meols
- Dovepoint Road, Hoylake & Meols
- Station Road, Hoylake & Meols
Cllr Julie McManus, Wirral Council’s cabinet member for Community Services, said: “This enables highways in the greatest need of repair and maintenance, to receive it.
“People in Wirral rely on our roads and highways for their commute to work, for access to our community centres and leisure facilities and to enjoy what our peninsula has to offer.
“It is so important that we invest in our highways and preventative maintenance of them to increase their life span and asset value and ultimately provide high quality, safe and efficient roads for all of our residents.”
Wirral Council is responsible for approximately 1,200 kilometres of road and this annual programme will see investments to repair and maintain approximately 140 unclassified and 40 classified roads.
The majority of the roads will be repaired using Micro Asphalt Treatment – which involves overlaying the existing road surface and has an average design life of at least 10 years, depending on location. This treatment can see traffic return to using the road between five to twenty minutes after application, depending on weather conditions.
Other treatments to be used in this programme include hot rolled asphalt, dense bitumen macadam or surface dressing treatments.
Cllr McManus continued: “All of our works are chosen to suit the individual roads selected for improvement. These are carefully considered so that issues are addressed with as little impact as possible on our community.”
