A total of nine parks and open spaces in West Wirral have been recognised in the annual Green Flag Awards.

They are among 27 sites across Wirral recognised by Keep Britain Tidy for excellence in the way they are run and maintained.

Cllr Julie McManus, Cabinet Member for Community Services, said: “Once again this outstanding result showcases Wirral as home to some of the country’s best parks and open spaces. I’m immensely proud of our parks as I’m sure residents are too.

“None of the Green Flags would have been possible without the time, hard work and complete dedication of council staff and volunteer and Friends groups. They work together day in and day out to keep our parks to the high standard they are for all to enjoy.”
