West Kirby is to retain a direct bus service with Arrowe Park Hospital under changes to services that take effect this coming week, but Hoylake and Meols will lose out.
Stagecoach’s 22 service – which has previously run of a Monday to Saturday daytime and called at the hospital on its way to Chester – is being re-routed from Monday 2 September. It will still run from West Kirby to Chester, but is being shortened so it no longer serves Moreton, Meols, Hoylake, Pensby and Arrowe Park Hospital.
Instead, Merseytravel is introducing a new 81 service once an hour from West Kirby, which will travel to and from the hospital, passing through Newton and Greasby on the way.
However, it means Caldy and Ennisdale Drive will only get a West Kirby circular service once every two hours, rather than every sixty minutes.
The Merseytravel website states: “Services 80 and 82 frequencies are reduced to every 2 hours and new route 81 is introduced offering a link from West Kirby via Newton and Greasby to Arrowe Park Hospital (replacing the withdrawn section of route 22).”
Details of the new 80, 81 and 82 services can be found here, and the changes to the 22 service can be found here.
