West Kirby residents are being urged to return donation envelopes to ensure Christmas lights are put up in the town this year.

Volunteers from West Kirby Christmas Lights have been posting letters through hundreds of doors in 80 streets, asking people to make a contribution towards this year’s festivities.

Envelopes can also be returned to post offices in West Kirby and Newton and Front Room on Banks Road.

Donations can also be made by Paypal or Natwest Bank.

Chair Rachel Kehoe told West Kirby Today: “We need to raise £7,000 to put the existing lights up and would love to smash this target to extend the lights this year and replace some of the broken lights.”

She said they want to extend the lights outside the Concourse this year so they spread up Grange Road towards the White Lion Inn.

People can also sponsor a snowflake in memory of a loved one on the tree outside West Kirby Concourse for £25, and have a name included on a memory plaque.

The lights switch-on will take place on Saturday 23 November, with more details to be announced in the near future.
