A fundraising dance for a local girls’ football team has taken place with the help of a local dance company.

West Kirby United Girls section held the event on Sunday 25 November at Heswall Hall.

The event was made possible due to the help of Anamal Dance Company of Hoylake, who volunteered their services for free.

Anna Malone and her team of three dancers taught the girls a dance over 90 minutes and the girls then performed the dance in-front of their parents and supporters.

The participants were aged between five and 12, and all play for one of the seven all girls teams.

Paul Wood of West Kirby United, said: “The girls had masses of fun. They were laughing and smiling throughout.

“The dance team were wonderful with the girls. They were really positive, good fun and engaging. Teaching up to around 60 girls to perform a dance in a relatively short time was not an easy task. Not only did they do this, but they made it such fun. It allowed the girls to show off a creative, artistic and sometimes silly side.

“The dancers were a really positive female role models. They were good examples of why our girls should stay fit and healthy.”

The money raised from the sponsorship will go towards the individual girls teams and the development of the girls section.
