Residents of a West Kirby street have raised thousands of pounds for the NHS by running the equivalent of 5 marathons in 1 day.

Twenty three families, living in Gleggside, ran a total of 470 laps of their street and have so far raised £2,405 for the Arrowe Park Hospital’s charity.

Each family was given an allocated time to run the Gl-EGG-side Marathon, which took place on Easter Sunday, to ensure they did not break lockdown rules.

They had originally aimed to complete 90 laps in order to reach 26.2 miles but smashed their target.

All money raised aims to help the NHS fight Covid-19.
