Staff from a local sewing shop have mobilised an army of volunteers to help sew hundreds of scrubs for NHS staff.

The Sewing Room, which has shops in West Kirby and Heswall, has also raised thousands of pounds to buy fabric and materials.

They are part of a national not-for-profit campaign called For The Love Of Scrubs, which has seen professional and amateur sewing enthusiasts join together to help support the NHS.

A spokeswoman for The Sewing Room said: “Our small team of 6 has doubled overnight with wonderful volunteers wanting to help and shows no signs of slowing down.

“We will be volunteering our time and skills to make up and send out as many sets of scrubs from our homes as we are able.”

The scrubs are being delivered to staff at Arrowe Park and Aintree Hospital, as well as local GP surgeries too.
