The people of Hoylake are rallying around to help the town’s RNLI station after the cancellation of this year’s Lifeboat Open Day.
The event has been called off for two years in a row due to the Covid-19 pandemic, leaving a financial headache for the charity as it is one of their main annual fundraisers.
Events being held across the weekend include live music, street parties and raffles.
The highlights are:
Friday – Monday
The Ship Inn Fundraising Weekender – live music and food in the ShipYard from 5pm on Friday.
Saturday – Monday
The Lake – live music from 8pm on Saturday.
Sunday
Ferndale Road – Beach in the Street from midday-4pm with a raffle, auction, seaside games, refreshments and stalls.
Monday
Hoyle Road – RNLI Fun-draiser from midday-4pm with stalls, refreshments and tombola.
Hoylake Social Club – Family Fun Day from midday-5pm with live music, a BBQ, refreshments, bouncy castle, tombola and more.
Plasterers Arms – RNLI Day from 2pm with live music, hog roast and raffles.
Whitts End Wine and Cocktail Bar – Lifeboat party from 6pm with live music.
Kids Planet Hoylake and Hoylake Post Office have been running raffles to raise money.
On Facebook, RNLI Hoylake Lifeboat station said: “Our community has once again pulled together to put on a bumper Bank Holiday Weekend of fundraising events in support of Hoylake RNLI from this Friday!
“Thank you so much to all the residents and local businesses who have decided to host such an incredible programme of fundraisers following the cancellation of our Lifeboat Open Day this year.
“We couldn’t save lives at sea without the support of our community and hope you all have a fantastic weekend!”
