Police are appealing for help to identify three people they believe may have information that could assist enquiries into an assault in West Kirby.

It was reported that a group of youths were pushing a lone woman on Banks Road at 7pm on Saturday 26 March when a man who was nearby intervened.

The group then assaulted the man, kicking and punching him, and he required treatment in hospital for fractured ribs. He has since been discharged.

Merseyside Police is appealing for help to identify the three males pictured, who may be able to assist the investigation.

Detective inspector Emma Kerrigan said: “This was a sustained and shocking attack on a man who was simply not prepared to accept the poor behaviour of the youths involved.

“If you recognise the males pictured, or witnessed any part of the incident on Banks Road, then do let us know as any information you hold could prove vital in our efforts to bring those responsible to justice.”
