Changes to bus services to and from West Kirby have taken effect.

The 81 service from West Kirby to Arrowe Park Hospital has changed so it fits around hospital shift times in the morning peak, with the first service leaving at 7.10am. It has also been rerouted and runs via Greenbank Road, rather than Black Horse Hill, and is now operated by A2B Travel.

The 38 service between West Kirby to Bromborough Retail Park via Moreton and Birkenhead has returned to its pre-Covid frequency, with services every half an hour between Monday and Saturday, rather than every hour. One service per hour continues on to Eastham.

There is also a slight reduction in the number of 437 services between West Kirby and Liverpool after 10pm at night – down to every 30 minutes rather than 20.

The alterations are part of a raft of changes across Liverpool City Region which the Combined Authority, which is responsible for public transport, says will “ensure that a sustainable network is in place which reflects changes in travel demands and patterns whilst continuing to maintain bus network coverage, encourage passenger growth, and promote bus as a preferred mode of travel.”

From Sunday 18 September, a lower adult single bus fare will be introduced which will mean passengers will be able to travel across Liverpool City Region for no more than £2.
