The festive period means changes to the operation of key public services.
We’ve rounded up how some of them are affected.
Refuse collections and tips
Industrial action by Biffa staff is planned from 28 to 30 December, with further action planned from 3 to 6 January and 16 to 21 January.
There will be no household bin collections, bulk bin collections, bulky waste collections, street cleaning, emptying of public litter bins or removal of fly tipping until Saturday 7 January.
Bin collections will restart on Monday 9 January, with green bins prioritised.
Merseyside Recycling and Waste Authority has announced that its tips, including West Kirby, will be open as normal from 27 December, apart from on New Year’s Day. It had earlier been thought they could be affected by industrial action.
Leisure
West Kirby Concourse reopens on Wednesday 28 December with normal opening hours, except for the swimming pool which is shut for maintenance until 3 January.
On Saturday 31 December, it will close at 3pm and will reopen again on Tuesday 3 January.

All of Wirral’s libraries, including West Kirby, are closed until Tuesday 3 January.
West Kirby flood wall
Works on the construction of West Kirby flood wall will restart again on Tuesday 3 January.
Barriers protecting the work area will remain in place, but access to South Parade will be clear.
