Wirral Council is giving away small trees at Royden Park in Frankby on Saturday 14 January.
It is part of the council’s target to plant 21,000 trees every year until 2030 to help increase coverage.
The trees are all UK sourced and grown and include Crab Apple, Scots Pine, Wild Cherry, Holly, Guelder Rose and Whitebeam.
Depending on tree type, they can live between 10 and 50 years and grow to between 4 and 35 metres in height.
The so-called ‘plug trees’ will be available in the car park from 10am – 2pm, or until they are all gone.
Giveaways are also taking place at the same time at the Walled Garden café at Central Park in Wallasey and the Visitor Centre at Brotherton Park and Dibbinsdale Nature Reserve in Bromborough.
The council says they can be planted in your garden, or any land in Wirral where you have permission.
Cllr Liz Grey, Chair of the Environment, Climate Emergency and Transport Committee, said: “Whether you want to plant the tree with your children or grandchildren and watch it grow or you’d just like to spruce up your garden, claiming a free tree is a great way to get the whole family interested as well as helping to increase the tree canopy in Wirral.”
