Plans have been submitted to build up to eight homes on the site of farm buildings in Hoylake.
The outline proposal, submitted by agent Pegasus Planning, would see the demolition of barns used to store agricultural machinery on New Hall Lane, off Carr Lane.
They would be replaced by three 3-bedroom and five 4-bedroom homes, together with space for up to 24 vehicles.
An environmental assessment submitted with the application states: “The site comprises agricultural buildings and sheds which are surrounded by hardstanding that has become encroached with scrub and tall ruderal vegetation.”
It adds: “The site provides habitat for nesting birds, hedgehog, amphibians and bats. Habitats on site will be lost to the proposals.”
It says the impact can be mitigated if bird boxes, bat boxes and suitable landscaping are installed.
An economic report commissioned for the application has found it would support 38 jobs during the year-long construction period, and boost spending in the local economy when the homes are occupied.
