The only remaining bank in West Kirby has announced it will shut its doors a year from now.
NatWest on Banks Road is to close on 8 July 2024, leaving the nearest branch in Wallasey.
The bank says only five personal banking customers used the branch regularly in 2022, and counter transactions fell by 55 percent between 2019 and 2023. It was used by 119 business customers on a regular basis.
NatWest says West Kirby has been chosen to host a banking hub, with a counter service run by the Post Office.
In a communication to customers, it said: “The Banking Hub will provide customers a face-to-face service, which includes a counter service provided by the Post Office, where you can do your everyday banking and can also be used by customers from other banks.
“There will be a NatWest Personal Banker at the Banking Hub one day a week who you can talk to.”
It has not yet been decided where the banking hub will be located. The existing Post Office counter is at the back of a shop on The Crescent.
NatWest added: “As plans for the Banking Hub progress, our branch colleagues will be able to tell you more including where the Banking Hub will be located and what day our Personal Banker will be there.”
