Green fingered volunteers are helping West Kirby, Hoylake and Meols look their best for The Open.
Around 250,000 tickets have been sold for the event, which takes place from 16 – 23 July at the Royal Liverpool Golf Course, with visitors coming from all over the world.
And two local groups who work all year round planting flowers have created fantastic floral displays for when the crowds descend next week.
A number of golf themed displays have been created by the Friends of Hoylake and Meols in Bloom.
They include special golf bag displays and scarecrows on Market Street, which local people have been naming on their Facebook page.
In a video posted on Wirral Council’s social media, Chair of Friends of Hoylake and Meols in Bloom, Jan Foster, said: “Our aim is to make the village smile with flowers and to make the village look cared for and loved. We do it because we love to do it.”
“We do this so that the village looks fantastic all year round, but we do know that the eyes of the world are going to be upon us this summer because of the golf so we have got a few surprises, a few extras, to join in with everything that’s going on to welcome all our visitors to Hoylake and Meols.”
Meanwhile, West Kirby in Bloom have also been busy recently, planting more than 1,000 geraniums over the last month.
On Facebook, they said:”Timeless time and energy goes into making our villages look beautiful.
“We have a great team behind the scenes, and a great team of volunteers who regularly turn out every week.”
