Hospitality businesses swing into action for The Open

Local bars, pubs and restaurants are pulling out all the stops to take advantage of The Open.

It’s nine years since the event was last held at the Royal Liverpool, and it is expected to massively boost local trade as golf fans from around the world descend on the area.

From outdoor barbecues to live music and a golf swing simulator, we’ve rounded up just some of what’s on offer. We are fortunate to have many excellent places to eat and drink and we encourage you to sample as many as you can!

Meols

The Railway – 143 Birkenhead Road (pub with food)

Open from 7.30am every morning from 16 – 23 July, serving breakfast, and a takeaway barbecue is also available.

Hoylake

The Ship Inn80 Market Street (pub with food)

Breakfast served outside from 7am, a golf simulator and past champions visiting as guest speakers.

Black Toad – 32 Market Street (real ale bar with food)

Outside bar at the rear and pizzas being served. Open until midnight and serving a special brew – Toad in the 19th Hole – a 4.6% cask pale ale.

Velvet Bar and Grill – 36 Market Street (restaurant)

Open from 7am – 2am all week (except Monday when they open at 8am) serving early morning breakfasts through to a midnight feast.

Arthur’s – 22 Market Street (bar with food)
Serving food from 8am to 8pm from 16 – 23 July, with the bar open until late.

21st Amendment5 Market Street (bar with food and drink)

Extended outside seating area, with a bar and barbecue with a hog roast, open from 8am – 1am.

Green Lodge – Stanley Road (pub with food and drink)

Open from early morning serving breakfasts, until late.

West Kirby

The Wro – Grange Road (bar with food)

Open every day, serving food and drink from 1pm until late.

West Kirby Tap – Grange Road (pub also serving pizza)

Open from midday until late night with live music on Friday 21, Saturday 22 and Sunday 23 July.

Seafood Shack – 3 Dee Lane (food)

Outside terrace from 10am every day, plus seafood sharing platters and grilled lobster served from 6-8pm – bring your own bottle or in-app table ordering with the Blind Pig.

Blind Pig – 3 Banks Road (bar)

Open from 12 – late every day with 2 for 1 cocktails from 4 – 8pm and the Attic Bar open from Thursday to Saturday.

Wild Inn38 Banks Road (bar)

Open every day from 2pm – midnight, including live music and cocktail offers in the early evening.

62586 Banks Road (small plates and bar snacks)

Serving small plates, with extended opening hours from 12 midday – 12:30am from Monday 17 – Sunday 23 July.

Hickory’s – Village Road (restaurant)

Serving deep south American style food and drink, and a chance to try your hand at a golf simulator.
