Memories and stories are wanted for a new street performance project celebrating West Kirby’s history, culture and heritage.

West Kirby Street’s Project is the brainchild of PurpleDoor community interest company, run by award-winning theatre and film director Karl Falconer.

Karl said: “We all know that West Kirby is a unique and fantastic place to visit, work and live.

“Recent years have started to see people from farther afield putting West Kirby on their radar, and we want to celebrate our diverse history, culture and heritage by helping bring people together to celebrate all that the town has to offer.”

A launch event is taking place at West Kirby Arts Centre on Sunday 30 July from 6-8pm, where people will have a chance to share their memories, stories, views and ideas about the town.

It will then be turned into a performance on the streets on Sunday 3 September.

Karl added: “What that will look like depends on what you bring, and we would love to take over as much of West Kirby as possible in celebrating and showcasing what makes the town so unique. We are open to all possibilities.

“You can support the project simply by coming along, by sharing memories and stories with us, by spreading the word or by working with us to create the final piece.”
